Instructional Checklist

Pitch Warm-up: Do-Mi-So/1-3-5 (around line), see Pitch Warm-Ups.
Practice beat divisions, see Rhythm Drills.
Identify the beat patterns; identify the spoken notation, count beats to tune.
Identify and reinforce the repeat sign (see lesson), chant the following rap;

ll: You get to these two dots, go back to those two dots :ll

Chant the rhythms of tune, with repeated section.
Identify the solo sections; divide into girls and boys for solo parts.
Add the pitches, numbers FIRST then syllables.
Add text, letting sections take turns alternating solo sections.
Have students raise their right hand with little finger pointing up on last phrase.


KEYBOARD/PIANO CENTERS

Use ONLY the third and first finger of either hand. Students may tap the spoken part as body percussion while practicing.
